As a director in Newmark Knight’s Denver office, Toby Sutherland is engaged in the delivery of all types of brokerage and transaction services. With experience and skill in corporate services, his operations have taken him from remote rural sites in desert lands to the heart of lower Manhattan. His deals span more than 40 states and involve diverse industries including telecommunications, finance, manufacturing and web services. Mr. Sutherland has completed transactions valued at between $10 and $20 million annually for the past 18 years.
Mr. Sutherland has focused his career on providing comprehensive office brokerage services with integrity. His work includes landlord and tenant representation, corporate services and land sales. Mr. Sutherland is a partner in one of the top GCS teams, providing reliable services to high-profile clients. Known for his congeniality and keen market insight, he ensures client satisfaction by reducing real estate costs while delivering solutions to improve end-user productivity. His expertise is valued by his clients and colleagues, and his nimbleness amid shifting dynamics ensures client satisfaction on the most prominent accounts.
Prior to joining Newmark, Mr. Sutherland was part of the Tenant Advisory Group at Grubb & Ellis, where he provided transaction management services for clients including CenturyLink/Qwest Communications, Shell Oil Products US and Holcim US.

Mr. Sutherland earned a Master of Business Administration degree from the Daniels College of Business at the University of Denver (1994), where he was also a member of the lacrosse team. He graduated from the University of Denver in 1990 with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration.
