Thomas White is a managing director with Newmark’s Multifamily Capital Markets Debt & Structured Finance group in the Bethesda office. He brings to his position more than 25 years of multifamily lending experience, including 16 years at Newmark’s predecessor firm. He has experience with HUD/FHA, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and Bridge Lending. He has originated debt for various property types, including assisted living, skilled nursing, memory care, affordable (LIHTC, Bonds and Section 8) and market rate multifamily assets. Mr. White also has experience with construction financing.
Mr. White began his role in origination after serving as FHA chief underwriter. He was instrumental in structuring, underwriting and closing loans throughout the United States. Prior to that, he served as a deputy chief underwriter in the firm’s Irvine and Bethesda offices. Earlier in his career, Mr. White was the senior underwriting supervisor for the firm’s satellite offices in Santa Monica and Walnut Creek.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. White acquired more than eight years of underwriting experience at Washington Mortgage Financial Group and AMI Capital Inc.

Mr. White is an active member of the Mortgage Bankers Association and an instructor for various MBA courses, including the FHA Multifamily Underwriter Training Program and the Underwriting Multifamily and Valuation Course.
Education
Mr. White graduated magna cum laude from St. Mary’s College, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics. He also attended the Center of Medieval and Renaissance Studies, Keble College, University of Oxford, and the London School of Economics.
