Thomas Kuhn joined Newmark Knight Frank in 2015 as a senior managing director with the Retail Occupier Services group of Newmark Knight Frank Global Corporate Services. In this role, Mr. Kuhn performs rollouts, lease renewals and dispositions and executes business development and strategy programs for a variety of retail corporate tenants.
Mr. Kuhn is an accomplished executive with a distinguished 24-year career as a corporate retail real estate professional. As an employee and consultant, he has extensive experience in directing all facets of site selection, acquisition, development, lease/contract negotiations, relocations and management of retail properties on a national basis. His creative approach to problem solving blends idealism with reality and introduces new methods for improving procedural and system efficiency. Mr. Kuhn has been recognized for guiding sizeable, cross-functional teams in identifying and implementing new strategies to reduce costs, increase revenue, enhance landlord/tenant relationships and drive profitable growth. He is a strategic analyst, planner and problem-solver with keen negotiation, transaction and deal-making skills.
Mr. Kuhn joined NKF from Greenstreet Real Estate Partners, an outsource real estate group, where he was the senior real estate director for the Western U.S. Greenstreet handled all real estate matters for Knowledge Universe Education (KinderCare), where Mr. Kuhn previously held a number of positions, from senior director of asset management to senior director of real estate. In the latter position, he was responsible for overseeing new center development and asset management of the 1,700 KinderCare locations across the U.S. Prior to KinderCare, Mr. Kuhn enjoyed a 10-year career with Hollywood Video, where he also served in many roles, from director of real estate to senior director of leasing and asset management. Mr. Kuhn began at Hollywood Video in 1996, after spending the early 1990s working on the landlord side of the business, leasing shopping center space, office buildings and flex projects. All listings were open listings, with Mr. Kuhn generating the leads and negotiating the deals with the tenants.
Mr. Kuhn is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC).
Mr. Kuhn earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Oregon.
