Thomas Hundelt is an executive managing director with Newmark Knight Frank Global Corporate Services. An internationally accomplished real estate, project and asset manager, Mr. Hundelt has over 25 years of experience with an extensive background in executing projects globally. As head of program and project management services, he oversees a global team of project managers that executes real estate solutions for clients on a daily basis. Mr. Hundelt is adept at reducing costs for projects, with a focus on operating costs, network rationalization, construction costs and procurement strategies.
During his tenure with Newmark Knight Frank, Mr. Hundelt has executed projects for many multinational clients across a wide span of industries, including technology, education, healthcare, finance and others. Among his projects was a merger of 150 global facilities into an existing company’s 450-property portfolio. Mr. Hundelt helped maximize the portfolio, utilizing optimum design techniques and co-location strategies where multiple properties were located in the same cities.
Using a combination of people, process and technology, Mr. Hundelt has built a team of highly effective project managers around the globe. Continuous process improvement combined with local talent acquisition has helped NKF build a tremendous team in a very short period of time.
Prior to joining NKF, Mr. Hundelt managed a division of the UPS Corporate Real Estate Department, where he oversaw the management of 1,350 leased properties at UPS Logistics. As part of the portfolio management process, Mr. Hundelt and his team worked with internal business units to devise plans for the consolidation of over 250 buildings internationally, decreasing the rentable footprint of the company by more than 1 million square feet in three years. Using a combination of co-terminus leases, new building construction and dispositions of under-utilized facilities, annual rent savings of $8.5 million were achieved. Mr. Hundelt also oversaw industrial and office construction projects across the U.S. and in Asia, Latin America and Europe. As an international real estate director, he managed multi-million-dollar logistics, consulting and transaction projects in France, China, Singapore and the Netherlands.
Mr. Hundelt graduated from Washington University with a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering.
