As an associate director with Newmark in New York City, Thomas “TJ” Cholnoky works as a member of brokerage teams representing both landlords and tenants in Manhattan.
TJ is currently representing various landlords on high-profile leasing assignments, including A&R Kalimian, Hines, MetroLoft, Piedmont Realty Trust and Taconic Investment Partners. In addition, TJ has negotiated deals on behalf of David Ellis Real Estate and XIN Development.
TJ is the leasing agent in Manhattan for many large-scale projects, such as 751 Sixth Avenue, 685 Lexington Avenue, 31 Union Square West, 9 Times Square, 60 Broad Street, 20 Broad Street and 180 Water Street.
TJ works with many well-known tenants in New York City, including CLIC Gallery, CVS, Gas Bijoux, GO Kigali, IRIS Optical and Union Square Hospitality Group.
Among TJ’s most notable recent transactions are the leasing of approximately 13,000 square feet for CVS at One SoHo Square, 3,500 square feet to Citibank at 180 Water Street and 2,500 square feet to CityMD.
TJ joined Newmark in 2019, when parent company Newmark Group, Inc. acquired RKF, a New York-based retail real estate brokerage and investment firm. He joined RKF as a canvasser in 2014 and was quickly promoted to associate.
Prior to RKF, TJ worked as a proprietary equities trader at T3 Trading Group, LLC where he evaluated macroeconomic trends, addressed sector rotations relative to U.S. equity markets and employed long/short equity trade strategies.
TJ earned a Bachelor of Science degree in economics from Trinity College. He holds a New York real estate salesperson’s license and is a member of the Real Estate Board of New York (REBNY) and International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC).
