As an associate director with Newmark’s Retail Occupier Services group, Scot Herod oversees lease negotiations of existing locations for valued clients and ensures that renewals and extensions are accurate and delivered to landlords in a timely manner. He also maintains a database with updated lease information and facilitates recommendations from area operators.
Mr. Herod’s experience in the real estate field includes more than six years as a lease administrator. In this capacity, he was responsible for interacting with landlords and providing excellent customer service and cost savings for two large, internationally recognized clients. His duties included lease abstracting, account/year-end reconciliations and processing monthly payments to landlords; he also facilitated estoppels, insurance certificates and termination notifications. While employed with the Staubach Company, Mr. Herod managed more than 2,000 license agreements and 100 lease agreements nationwide. He has since become involved with maintaining a portfolio of lease agreements throughout Canada totaling over 500 locations, for which he has been able to find over $150,000 in CAM reconciliation savings for the past two years. Mr. Herod started transitioning to negotiating renewals as a transaction manager in 2013.
Mr. Herod holds a Master of Business Administration degree in strategic management and a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in real estate, both from the University of North Texas.
