Michael Poe is a managing director with Newmark Knight Frank’s Multifamily Capital Markets Debt & Structured Finance group in the Newport Beach, California, office. A 25-year capital markets veteran, Mr. Poe has substantial expertise in commercial real estate finance, including DUS/agency finance via Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac execution. With his experience in agency, life insurance, debt funds, equity and CMBS executions, Mr. Poe is able to assist many types of borrowers in sourcing the best alternatives to fit their specific overall needs nationwide.
Prior to joining Newmark Knight Frank, Mr. Poe served as president of Inland Commercial Mortgage Group, the commercial mortgage brokerage arm of The Inland Real Estate Group of Companies, where he gained extensive expertise in retail, hospitality and multifamily. Previously, he was a principal at Mid-North Financial Services, a traditional correspondent commercial mortgage banking firm headquartered in Chicago.
Throughout his career, Mr. Poe has been responsible for the structuring and placement of well over 500 transactions, totaling in excess of $7 billion in finance. His production covers both investment and owner-occupied commercial real estate.
In addition, Mr. Poe has arranged more than $2 billion in finance for both hospitality and multifamily properties. Fannie Mae DUS and Freddie Mac loans account for more than $800 million of his overall career production. He is very familiar with the programmatic drivers needed to execute agency finance in today’s complex lending environment.

Mr. Poe graduated with honors from Eastern Illinois University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics and minored in both business and political science. He later served as a graduate assistant at the university and earned a master’s degree in economics there.
