Michael Adams joined Newmark in 2016 as a senior managing director in the firm’s Chicago office, where he focuses on office transactions. As a tenant representative, Mr. Adams helps his clients develop and implement workplace strategy, based on their goals and objectives, which address the demographic shifts in the workforce and advances in technology to improve space utilization and enhance workplace performance. Mr. Adams also develops financial analysis to assess real estate transaction metrics, such as occupancy and capital expenditure costs in the evaluation of alternatives for his clients.
Mr. Adams’ past experience and skill set includes acquisition and disposition of assets, transaction management, lease negotiation and multi-market portfolio assignments. He joined Newmark after nearly nine years as a senior vice president with Colliers International’s Office Advisory Group, where he represented tenants and was named four times to the company’s Chicago-based Everest Club, an annual honor reserved for top producers. Prior to joining Colliers, Mr. Adams worked at Grubb & Ellis, now a part of Newmark, for nine years, most recently as a senior vice president.
Since the start of his career, Mr. Adams has completed transactions totaling more than 10 million square feet. He has completed numerous high-profile assignments including Aryzta AG’s four-building consolidation and relocation to downtown Chicago and Lake County Forest Preserve’s 100,000-square-foot building acquisition. Additionally, Mr. Adams assisted in the consolidation/renewal of U.S. Cellular’s 331,000-square-foot corporate headquarters in Chicago. One of the largest transactions of 2016, it was a nominee for NAIOP Chicago’s Suburban Office Transaction of the Year award.

An active member of his community, Mr. Adams serves on the board of directors of the SEDOL (Special Education District of Lake County) Foundation.
Mr. Adams earned a Bachelor of Science degree from DePaul University.
