Kelly J. Small, MAI, joined Newmark’s Valuation & Advisory in late 2017 as an executive vice president and multi-family team leader in the Washington, DC, office. Ms. Small brings to her position 31 years of appraisal experience and has performed valuations on a broad range of properties, including office, residential, industrial, subdivisions, mixed-use, shopping centers, hotels, multi-family and special-purpose. Her expertise also extends to HUD multifamily accelerated processing (MAP) appraisals, financial analysis, market research and real estate settlement work.
Prior to joining Newmark, Ms. Small served for nearly 14 years as a senior director with the Valuation & Advisory Multifamily Specialty Group at Cushman & Wakefield of Washington, DC, Inc. She has focused on the Washington-area multi-family market since 2003. Previously, Ms. Small was a director of Cushman & Wakefield’s New York office. She was appointed the title in 1998, a year after she was named an associate director. Ms. Small began her tenure at Cushman & Wakefield in 1995, as a senior appraiser in the Washington office.
Prior to Cushman & Wakefield, Ms. Small worked as a staff appraiser with Legg Mason Realty Group in Baltimore, Maryland. She previously served as a junior appraiser for two years at Legg Mason/Wood Walk, where she began her real estate career in 1988 as a research assistant.

Education
Ms. Small earned a Master of Science degree from Johns Hopkins University and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Baltimore. She also completed multiple Appraisal Institute courses toward receiving her MAI designation.
