John Potter serves as an associate at Newmark’s Rutherford, New Jersey, office, where he specializes in corporate services. Mr. Potter has managed a mixture of real estate transactions ranging in size and scope, from office leasing to the sale of deactivated substation land sites for a major utility. He has over 15 years of real estate experience in the New York and New Jersey market, with over $90 million in corporate services leasing and sales transactions. Throughout his career, he has successfully utilized a vertical marketing business plan that has established trusted long-term business relationships with Fortune 500 companies. This earned client trust and made it possible for Mr. Potter to grow his corporate real estate services business platform.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Potter was employed by a New Jersey-based development company, where he was instrumental in attaining the residential, hospitality, retail and office entitlements and financing for a 2.2 million-square-foot mixed-use project. Upon receipt of the entitlements and financing, Mr. Potter was assigned to manage the project’s residential and commercial leasing and sales department.
Mr. Potter has represented and managed the real estate portfolios of such notable firms as HealthSouth, PSE&G, Chase, Prudential, The New York Times, Thomson Financial and Millennium Homes, among others.
Prior to his career in real estate, Mr. Potter worked as a project manager in the contract furniture industry.
Mr. Potter is a licensed real estate broker in New Jersey and a member of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP).
Mr. Potter received his Master of Science degree with a major in psychology and minor in statistics from Roosevelt University. He received a Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in psychology and minoring in chemistry, from the University of Tennessee.
