Joana Mattos Silva, MRICS, CAU, joined Newmark Knight Frank Brazil in 2018 to lead the Valuation and Advisory division in the São Paulo office. A 16-year veteran of the real estate market, Ms. Silva has extensive expertise in the valuation of office buildings and special projects, including the largest Brazilian funds, landmark buildings, diverse portfolios, bank guarantees as well as market and economic and financial feasibility studies for relevant projects.
Ms. Silva joined Newmark Knight Frank Brazil after serving as the leader of the special projects and office valuation practice at an international real estate company. In this position, she successfully performed valuations of iconic assets and large portfolios for international and local players as well major international and Brazilian real estate funds. Ms. Silva was also responsible for market, economic and financial feasibility studies on behalf of real estate development companies in all segments. Additionally, she has performed valuations of large projects such as bank guarantees, branches valuations and hospital. In 2016, Ms. Silva and her team delivered 391 valuation reports for assets worth $4 billion.
Ms. Silva’s previous experience includes a position as coordinator of the new markets department at one of Brazil’s largest national real estate developers. In this role, she was responsible for searching and purchase land parcel for residential developments. Ms. Silva also worked on the housing loan Management project for a large Brazilian Bank. The project goal was to develop an appraisal report software to standardize a large amount of valuations and also manage more than 30 outsourced companies on the National Territory. Prior to that, Ms. Silva worked in the tenant representation department of an international real estate company, prospecting, renegotiated leasing contracts and provided legal advice on behalf of various clients.

- After that, Mrs. Silva earned her Master of Business Administration degree from Instituto Maua de Tecnologia.
