Jeff Tarae joined Newmark in 2016 as a managing director focused on Northern Virginia. A consummate commercial real estate professional for nearly 10 years, he has marketed numerous Class A office projects in Northern Virginia for institutional and entrepreneurial owners and developers. He has also represented many well-known national and regional companies within the Washington, DC, metropolitan area.
Mr. Tarae’s work in real estate at both locally owned and nationally recognized firms included managing and supporting all aspects of the leasing process: due diligence, financing and lease negotiations. He provided research and technical analysis of market conditions and oversaw client presentations and marketing collateral for business owners. Immediately prior to joining Newmark, Mr. Tarae was a vice president at Colliers.
Mr. Tarae served for more than four years as chief executive officer of Music Matters, a state-of-the-art, Atlanta-based music center that provides education and support for music programs in local schools and the community. During his tenure, Mr. Tarae provided business development, strategic planning and implementation oversight as well as directed all marketing initiatives for the company. He also managed operating budgets and developed a multi-stream revenue platform, allowing for expansion into other markets. Mr. Tarae previously served as managing director of Music Matters After School.

Mr. Tarae serves as commissioner of the Loudoun County Economic Development Commission. He also serves on the board of directors of Tysons Partnership and chairs that organization’s emerging leaders subcommittee.
An active member of his community, Mr. Tarae serves on the board of directors of Homestretch, a non-profit charity organization. Previously, he served on the board of directors of the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Young Professionals for the 2011 term.
Mr. Tarae holds a real estate salesperson’s license in the Commonwealth of Virginia and a Bachelor of Science degree from Northeastern University.
