Douglas Larson joined Newmark Knight Frank’s Valuation & Advisory Group in 2017 as a an executive vice president in the company’s New York headquarters. Mr. Larson brings to his position three decades of financial advisement, underwriting, asset management and valuation expertise. He has appraised office, industrial and retail properties on behalf of clients within the investment banking, insurance and financing industries. Mr. Larson has successfully completed appraisals and consulting assignments for mortgage loan purposes, arbitrations, allocations, estates, and the acquisition, disposition and marketing of real estate.
Prior to Newmark Knight Frank, Mr. Larson served for 24 years as an executive director with Cushman & Wakefield’s Valuation & Advisory Group in New York, where he provided valuation, underwriting and due diligence expertise to support the financing of major office and retail construction projects throughout the city. Clients included private equity firms, hedge funds, banks and other institutional investors. He also provided a number of consulting services, including preparation of appraisals; customized financial analyses; advising acquisition and disposition strategies; preparing market and location studies; and analyzing capital structures to identify short and long term risks.
During his tenure at Cushman & Wakefield, Mr. Larson performed valuation and analysis on a wide variety of property types, including Class A office buildings, apartment buildings, shopping centers, regional malls, motels and hotels, manufacturing plants, warehouses and mixed-use projects. He has extensive experience with New York City office buildings and mixed-use properties: Over the last five years, he has appraised over 500 office buildings in Manhattan alone. Prior to Cushman & Wakefield, Mr. Larson worked as a managing advisor in the Phoenix, Arizona, office of Arthur Andersen & Co. In this position, he prepared real property valuations, property analysis and portfolio analysis to support the marketing, leasing and sale of complex assets for bulk sale, internal and annual loan review, acquisition and disposition. He also performed marketability and feasibility studies, market analysis and consulting on real estate within the western United States.
Mr. Larson began his real estate career at the Phoenix office of Bank One, which was acquired by JPMorgan & Chase in 2004. Mr. Larson prepared and reviewed real property appraisals for compliance with Office of the Comptroller of Currency (OCC) and guidelines under the Financial Institutions Reform, Recovery, and Enforcement Act of 1989 (FIRREA).

Mr. Larson earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Arizona State University, where he double majored in economics and sociology. He also attended New York University’s Schack Institute of Real Estate School of Professional Studies.
