Brian Mela joined Newmark Grubb Knight Frank in 2015 as senior project manager in the firm’s Wayne, Pennsylvania, office. He provides oversight for all construction-related projects including building capital improvements, tenant improvements, building renovations and site upgrades for New Jersey and the greater Philadelphia region.
Mr. Mela brings to his position more than 18 years of experience in project management, real estate development, construction, large-scale renovations, high-end tenant improvements and acquisitions throughout much of the Northeast, including New York City, New Jersey, Philadelphia, Boston and Washington, DC. He provides a broad range of skills and expertise in contract negotiations, contract management, contract administration, pre-construction, construction management, estimating, scheduling and permitting within a variety of different asset types including office, retail, warehouse, self-storage, hospitals and residential.
Prior to joining Newmark Grubb Knight Frank, Mr. Mela worked for seven years at Public Storage, as a regional construction manager for the East Coast. He also served as construction manager for First Properties Corporation, which specializes in building and leasing office and warehouse space throughout central New Jersey. He has direct experience in working with both large and midsize general contractors/construction management companies in New York City, specializing in tenant improvements, retail, health care, residential apartment buildings and restaurants throughout all five boroughs and Long Island.
- Managed the $16 million exterior/interior renovation of the largest public storage facility in the country, a 400,000 SF, 12-story flagship facility in New York City

Mr. Mela graduated from the University of Vermont with a Bachelor of Science degree and from New York University with a certificate in construction management.
