Randy Buddemeyer, president of Property Management Services for Newmark Grubb Knight Frank (NGKF), has been named to the editorial advisory board of Better Buildings, a quarterly supplement to ALM’s Real Estate Forum magazine that focuses exclusively on best practices in commercial real estate property operations. The print and online publication was launched nationally in 2012 in response to growing interest in the increasingly complex issues facing property owners and managers. In 2013, the Better Buildings supplement will appear in the February/March, June, September and November issues of Real Estate Forum.
Mr. Buddemeyer oversees over 250 million square feet of investment properties and facilities nationally for NGKF. During his 26-year career in commercial real estate, he has experienced firsthand how the property management business has evolved. Unique challenges and diverse business objectives often have required looking beyond established industry best practices for creative new solutions.
“Today’s property owners are incredibly savvy when it comes to their investments,” said Mr. Buddemeyer. “There is a strong desire to pursue sustainable building operations and maximize energy efficiency, and a keen interest in themes such as adaptive re-use and workplace design. These are issues that we deal with on a daily basis, and ones that should continue to be explored as our business advances. I applaud ALM for recognizing the importance of these topics and am looking forward to collaborating with my peers to deliver practical knowledge regarding today’s approaches to building management.”
An active member of both the Building Owners and Managers Association and the Institute of Real Estate Management, Mr. Buddemeyer’s multi-faceted background contributes to his unique perspective. Before joining NGKF, he was managing director for Asset Services and practice leader for Florida agency office leasing at CBRE. He previously served in a similar capacity at CBRE in Washington, D.C. Earlier in his career, Mr. Buddemeyer led the management operations for The Farr Corporation, a prominent commercial real estate development company in the D.C. market.
