Newmark Knight Frank Valuation & Advisory, LLC (NKF) is pleased to announce that Rob Vodinelic, MAI, MRICS, has been hired to serve as senior managing director and market leader for the firm’s Valuation & Advisory group in Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky. Based in Columbus, Ohio, Vodinelic will oversee offices in Columbus, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Indiana and Kentucky. His focus will be on growing the firm’s V&A platform by providing outstanding service and expanding current client relationships, driving new business development, and aggressively recruiting top appraisal professionals. He will also prepare and review appraisal reports on a diverse spectrum of property types.
Vodinelic comes to the firm after being one of the founding leaders for Cushman & Wakefield’s Valuation & Advisory practice in Ohio, and after managing, and rapidly expanding, their Ohio V&A business over the past several years. During his 20 plus year tenure at Cushman & Wakefield, Vodinelic spent the first several years of his career based in their New York World Headquarters, first working there as a senior accountant in the Corporate Finance Group and then transitioning to Valuation & Advisory (V&A), where he worked with the office practice team, valuing Class A high-rise and trophy office buildings throughout New York City.
Vodinelic relocated to Columbus, Ohio in 2002, where he shifted his focus to providing valuation services on a wide variety of property types, including office, retail, industrial, multifamily, special use assets, medical facilities, and complex mixed-use developments. He has also administered valuation analyses on Federal and State Historic Tax Credits, Tax Increment Financing (TIF) arrangements, and a variety of tax abatements, and has provided highest & best use studies on large, mixed-use development sites. In addition, Vodinelic has significant experience in litigation assignments, including the preparation of appraisals and providing expert witness testimony for property tax appeals and bankruptcy proceedings.
“Watching Rob’s transformation from the beginning of his career in appraisal, from learning the complicated facets of the NYC office market to becoming a business builder and industry leader has been one of the true pleasures of my career,” said John Busi, MAI, FRICS, president of NKF’s Valuation & Advisory group. “As a senior managing director and one of our newest partners with responsibility for key territories in Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky, Rob is integral to the success of our practice at Newmark Knight Frank.”
“The vast, multi-disciplinary resources of NKF, together with its commercial real estate experts across the three-state region of Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana, and its national and global reach, will allow us to truly provide a best-in-class experience for our client base,” said Vodinelic. “Coupling that deep market knowledge with the development of our next-generation platform will empower our V&A professionals to be the most productive in the industry, while at the same time providing top-tier service to their clients.”
Vodinelic is a designated member of the Appraisal Institute, a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, and holds Certified General Real Estate Appraiser licenses in multiple states. In 2016, he served as president of the nearly 500-member, Ohio Chapter of the Appraisal Institute, and currently serves as a regional representative of the Appraisal Institute. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Hofstra University, as well as a Master of Science Degree in Real Estate from New York University.
