NGKF Capital Markets continues its strategic expansion, this time with the addition of two highly accomplished retail investment sales experts based in Chicago. Michael Dillon, named executive managing director, and Bruce Harris, now senior managing director, have represented institutional clients, financial institutions, and public and private investment companies in the disposition of retail assets on a national level.
The two, formerly senior directors with Marcus & Millichap’s National Retail Group here, have brokered several billion dollars’ worth of retail assets across the United States, with a focus on food-anchored shopping centers, power centers and enclosed malls. Combined, they have 40 years of experience and completed transactions in 21 states.
Newmark Grubb Knight Frank (NGKF) President Jimmy Kuhn, who also heads up NGKF Capital Markets, said, “With confidence in retailers bouncing back, we are seeing increased investor interest in core retail assets in primary and secondary markets, as well as value-add properties in many markets across the country.”
“The Dillon-Harris team bolsters NGKF’s national capital markets platform and also adds an important component to our strong and growing retail capabilities in the Midwest,” said Michael Sheinkop, executive vice president, regional managing director. “Our objective is to help clients maximize value at every stage of the real estate ownership cycle, and Michael and Bruce take a strategic, client-focused approach to the disposition of each retail asset. The experience they bring complements our active and successful retail tenant and agency representation teams, which are a dominant force in the Chicago CBD, as well as our financing, management and franchise advisory capabilities.”
Before Marcus & Millichap, Mr. Dillon was a senior managing director in the Capital Advisors Group of Insignia/ESG, where he was responsible for all retail investment sales in the Midwest. He started his career at Mid-America Real Estate Corp. and over the years has successfully represented the nation’s premier owners of retail assets, including Simon Property Group, TIAA-CREF, Forest City, Bank of America, Zell/Equity Properties & Development and Bayview Financial, among others, in their disposition of shopping centers.
“To best serve our clients, we require access to leading market intelligence, strong industry relationships and professionals skilled in all facets of commercial real estate,” said Mr. Dillon. “NGKF is well positioned to advise real estate investors no matter what their need - from financing to leasing and property management to asset disposition.”
Mr. Harris began his commercial real estate career at Marcus & Millichap, specializing in the sale of multi-tenant and single-tenant retail property and establishing a successful track record with a wide variety of client types, locations and asset qualities. Working with some of the Midwest’s most respected owners and developers, he has sold property that ranges from institutional-quality, major-market assets to single-tenant, net leased property in secondary markets.
Mr. Harris said, “NGKF has made meaningful investments in its platform and we are eager to take advantage of, and contribute to, this dynamic organization. Michael and I handle a large volume of retail transactions across the country, and are confident the firm’s capital markets strength and unique understanding of factors such as retail market drivers and property positioning will greatly enhance the service we can provide to our clients.”
