Newmark Grubb Knight Frank (NGKF) is bolstering its regional and national operations by opening a new office in Raleigh, N.C., well known as a hub for pharmaceutical, technology and research and development companies, along with major university medical centers.
“As part of the renowned Research Triangle anchored by three world-class research universities, Raleigh is a key market in the Southeast and draws many businesses and employees each year,” said Brett Hunsaker, executive vice president and regional managing director for NGKF in the Southeast and Washington, D.C. “By combining local expertise with our strong regional and national capabilities, we not only can cater to the traditional tenants in the Triangle, but also work with those in other industries that want to enter or expand their operations in the area.”
NGKF welcomes Brad Armstrong as Executive Managing Director, who will work in both Raleigh and in NGKF’s New York headquarters as part of a broader outreach to new clients. Mr. Armstrong will specialize in the development of tenant representation and advisory solutions, adding NGKF’s well-established regional and national expertise with financial and legal firms to the Raleigh office’s deep bench of pharma, R&D, medical and technology relationships. He also will leverage NGKF’s prominent advisory experience with such major firms in the New York region.
Mr. Armstrong brings nearly 20 years of corporate real estate experience and has been a CoStar Power Broker for the past six years. In 2010, he received the Triangle Business Journal “Deal of the Decade” award for restructuring a 330,000-square-foot lease on behalf of Pharmaceutical Product Development. Mr. Armstrong is an active citizen, serving as a the founding board member and president of Project Main Street, an organization that provides financial assistance to families with loved ones suffering from ALS. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology from Gettysburg College.
A top business developer in the Southeast region, Doug Brock joins the Raleigh office as Director and will focus on tenant representation. Mr. Brock’s expertise is in corporate headquarters, office and office/lab transactions and he has worked on national and local projects in 25 states. Mr. Brock graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a major in business administration and a concentration in finance and entrepreneurial studies.
Dan Thomson joins the Raleigh office as Associate Director. He has led many companies through workplace transition and integration by blending sound workplace planning strategies with traditional commercial brokerage analytics and leveraged negotiations. Mr. Thomson originally worked in corporate interiors and workplace design for 13 years before transitioning to a career in commercial real estate. Active in the community, he is a board member of Inter-Faith Food Shuttle and Food Runners Collaborative. Mr. Thomson holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Elon University.
Geoff Berrios joins the Raleigh office as Associate Director, specializing in tenant representation with the focus of minimizing the impact of real estate costs on clients’ profitability and business operations. He has represented clients from various industries in local and national projects ranging from corporate headquarters and offices to industrial assets in more than 20 states. Mr. Berrios holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from East Carolina University in Greenville, N.C., where he also minored in history.
