Newmark Grubb Knight Frank (NGKF), continuing in its effort to grow its global full-service platform pillared on best-in-class talent in all respective business lines, has hired John D. Busi, MAI, FRICS, to lead NGKF’s valuation and advisory division. Busi is one of the most respected figures in property valuation globally.
“Our goal is to hire the best and most qualified professionals to lead every respective discipline within NGKF’s full-service platform, as we have done with the addition of Rob Griffin and Kevin Shannon in capital markets, as well as the acquisition of ARA and other market leaders throughout the country,” said Barry M. Gosin, chief executive officer of NGKF. “We are ecstatic to bring Busi on board to lead the effort in building out our due diligence, valuation and advisory practice as a perfect complement to our growing capital markets platform.”
“NGKF’s deep bench in capital markets, roots in technology and analytics, and entrepreneurial culture offers me the opportunity to build a next-generation valuation and advisory practice,” said Busi. “After 35 years under one banner, leaving Cushman & Wakefield was one of the most difficult career decisions I have ever made, but I was driven by the unique opportunity to evolve my practice. I look forward to beginning a new chapter and working to transform the valuation business through an innovative approach that leverages technology and real-time analytics, centered on world-class capital markets intelligence and data harnessed by our growing platform. NGKF is committed to expanding its valuation practice both through acquisitions and recruiting top talent, and I am thrilled to lead that charge.”
Prior to joining NGKF, Busi served as president of valuation and advisory and global practice lead at Cushman & Wakefield, where he worked for 35 years. In this role, he was responsible for the overall business objectives, recruitment goals and growth of services for the practice consisting of 1,600 professionals in 30 countries. Busi is a Designated Member of the Appraisal Institute, a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (FRICS) and an associate member of the Urban Land Institute. He is a former President of the Metropolitan New York Chapter of the Appraisal Institute and a past recipient of the Appraisal Institute’s “Person of the Year” award. Busi earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Long Island University’s School of Business Administration.
