Newmark Grubb Knight Frank (NGKF) is pleased to announce that a new level of excellence in Chinese cuisine will make its Manhattan debut in the spring of 2017. Famed chef Dong Zhenxiang, one of the highest rated in China, has teamed with the investment arm of Kuafu Properties, prominent New York developers, in the launching of the nearly 18,000-square-foot flagship restaurant at the iconic “Cubes” space, adjacent to the Met Life Plaza on 42nd Street at 3 Bryant Park. Dadong was represented by Dennis Karr and Jonathan Krivine of NGKF.
Beginning in 2011, Shang Dai of Kuafu Properties, through Karr and Krivine, reviewed dozens of locations, looking for the perfect combination of affluent customers, geographic prominence and architectural distinction for a high-end and also authentic modern Chinese food concept. With Dadong’s art of food and Kuafu’s local reputation, the partners were able to provide great confidence to landlords who may have been initially uncertain.
Dadong will feature contemporary Chinese cuisine using extremely healthy and fresh ingredients. The menu will offer a range of dishes that are not available in existing New York Chinese restaurants. The space will be a world-class design configured so that diners can watch the food being prepared.
In addition to two large dining rooms, the restaurant features a 4,000-square-foot rooftop bar, as well as private dining facilities. With glass exposure on three sides, Dadong will light up the sky at the important intersection on 42nd Street between Times Square and Bryant Park. This area has the highest concentration of Chinese office tenants who seek top quality and style for business entertainment, plus business travelers from Asia and elsewhere, and New Yorkers seeking the best cuisine and dining experience.
The landlord was represented by Pat Smith, Corey Zolcinski and Eric Grace of JLL and Mark Kapnick of SRS.
