There was little change in the market during the second quarter of 2017. Newly available space continued to be leased almost immediately, leaving unoccupied space to remain on the market. However, the small amount of vacant space available makes its eventual leasing inevitable. The overall vacancy rate for the 161.7 million-square-foot market was just 3.4%, down nearly 22% from 4.4% a year ago. As vacancy dwindles further, landlords will respond to market demand by continuing to increase their asking rates from month to month.
