Newmark Grubb Knight Frank (NGKF) Retail has announced that, for its 2012 ICSC “Streets of New York” event, the company has partnered with the city’s top property owners to raise funds that will assist local retailers across the city that have been affected by Hurricane Sandy. The generous donations will be granted to The New York City Economic Development Corporation, which will distribute aid to those retailers and communities most in need.
“As important as it is for the communities to get back on their feet, we felt that the local shops also needed support. The residents look to these shops, which, in turn, support their daily needs,” said Michael Lehrman, Global Head of Real Estate for BGC Partners/Newmark Grubb Knight Frank.
This annual NGKF ICSC event has been the premier party of the International Council of Shopping Centers’ New York conference for the past decade. This year, it will be held on Monday, December 3, at Beauty & Essex on the Lower East Side, which was one of the many areas affected by Hurricane Sandy.
“Retail is our lifeblood. We really feel an obligation to help in any way we can to get the streets of New York City up and running again,” said Jeffrey Roseman, executive vice president of Newmark Grubb Knight Frank Retail.
