A handful of for-profit educators, many of which bore the brunt of government studies questioning tuition fees relative to career placement, shed space this quarter, including Brightwood College (47,274 square feet in Riverside), University of Phoenix (27,277 square feet in San Bernardino), National University (25,514 square feet in San Bernardino) and Argosy University (18,540 square feet in Ontario). In the case of National University, plummeting enrollment is leading to the closure of physical locations and a shift to online classes.

Amazon will occupy 2.4 million square feet across two fulfillment centers in Fontana and Beaumont next quarter. The company is the Inland Empire's largest employer with 18,000 jobs (a conservative estimate) and will soon operate 15 centers in excess of 500,000 square feet. Amazon also has smaller delivery centers and partnerships with third-party logistics providers.
