Ralph Balber became a founder and principal of Newmark Knight Frank Halakar real estate in 2003, overseeing the brokerage division. As president of Newmark Knight Frank Halakar, he uses his CPA, and entrepreneurial and large business experience to advise Indianapolis companies on how to secure the best real estate situation. Mr. Balber views his role as a full service consultant rather than as a typical real estate broker to make the most informed decisions.
Mr. Balber started his professional career in Chicago working as an auditor for Arthur Anderson's commercial division, and earning his CPA from the University of Illinois. In 1993, Mr. Balber left to start Ralph & Barry's Inc., and owned and managed 9 restaurants across the Midwest. Mr. Balber created two restaurant concepts and developed them into multi-market restaurants, and also started a manufacturing and wholesale division that sold bakery goods to various restaurants, hospitals and colleges throughout Michigan and Ohio. In 2001, Mr. Balber joined Meridian Real Estate as the director of new business development. Mr. Balber is consistently involved with any transaction noted on the Indianapolis Business Journal's (IBJ) "Who's Who behind the scenes in commercial real estate." He has also been recognized in the IBJ's "40 under 40" and is consistently listed in the city's deal makers and Costar's National Power Broker list.
Mr. Balber, along with his equity partners, have acquired a portfolio of over 106 properties totaling in excess of 4 million square feet, including Indianapolis landmarks such as One Indiana Square and approximately 10% of the CBD market.
