Newmark Grubb Knight Frank announced that Thomas MacDonald has joined the company’s Pittsburgh office as a senior managing director. He brings to this position 22 years of experience in office leasing, investment sales, corporate consulting and strategic planning, and will focus on assisting owners and occupiers with their real estate service needs in both the western and central Pennsylvania markets.
Mr. MacDonald comes to Newmark Grubb Knight Frank from CBRE, where he was a senior-ranked producer for 14 years. During his tenure, he represented a number of high-profile assets, including the 562,000-square-foot Liberty Center office tower, the 450,000-square-foot Cranberry Woods campus, and 210,000 square feet of ground-up development at Innovation Park in State College. He also played key roles in the lease restructuring of Ariba, Inc.’s 180,000-square-foot regional headquarters, the build-to-suit lease for Nova Chemicals’ 150,000-square-foot U.S. headquarters, UPMC’s 160,000-square-foot master lease at Quantum I at SouthSide Works, and was responsible for the 70,000-square-foot anchor leasing to Penn State Outreach at Innovation Park.

An academic All-American, Mr. MacDonald received a B.S. in economics from Clarion University and an M.B.A. in finance from the University of Pittsburgh’s Katz Graduate School of Business.
